A Visit to Westside Rifle and Pistol Range

There aren't many shooting ranges in New York City let alone Manhattan. In fact, it's pretty much down to the venerable Westside Rifle & Shooting Range, located on 20th St near 5th Ave. Last night, most of the Shore Fire staff visited the range for a fun evening of shooting, though several folks decided to bare arms rather than bear arms. Afterward we retired to the equally classic throwback bar Peter McManus bar for burgers, bourbon and beer.

Here's the shooters during our training session.

I loved how our instructor had to keep telling Chris T. "please don't point the rifle at me"

I gave my daughter a gift certificate to the West Side range and called them and they said they are reconstructing or renovating or something, hope to be done in about 2 more week, maybe April - is there something happening with them relative to license or whatever that would lead us to belief it won't happen then? I just wonder - we live in Boston and so we don't get a chance to see them, but could somebody locally please tell me what's going on there? thanks. tricia ifve us
